Tis the Deployment Season

That word is so annoying.

Deployment

Blah!

I wanted to do a more formal 'Military Lifestyle 101' post before now. There has been some slacking on the whole blog thing and its just a few weeks before the big day of suckage comes.

This will be deployment #3 for the Linns as a married couple, #4 for the Ranger himself. Crazy enough I have known about this deployment since the day he got home from his last one. Literally. He told me right after his redeployment ceremony he was leaving in a year and a half. Thanks for the celebration Army.

Knowing he will deploy, whether you've known for over a year or just a few months, drives your mind absolutely crazy. You start preparing for it the day you find out. I have been preparing for this deployment for 17 months. 17 months of training, NTC, weeks where he has to stay late or all day(s), packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking, packing. Army gear has covered the Linn floors for months on end. Random calls at all hours for important Top Secret Squirrel stuff. Ok really just change of time everyone has to be at work (like 0300!).

The Linn house is over it. The stress is just stupid now. That's the best way to describe it. Stupid. The dread of this deployment has just dragged on and on and on. And on.

I'm honestly not stressed (YET) about this deployment. No worry unless some mission comes down on my husband. Right now he's just going on a vacation with his H.O.G.s to train, drink Starbucks, eat ice cream, play nerd cards, and work out a lot. Yes I get more stud muffin muscles when he comes home!! The husband is a bit stressed I can tell though. Cigarette smoke breaks for him are every hour now instead of VERY occasionally. You can't blame the guy though. He's leaving home, his little boy, and crazy me. He takes such a physical and mental stress toll every time he has to leave.

Here is the statement that many of my fellow Mil Wife sisters will understand, and civilians will think I don't love my husband.

I'M SO READY FOR THIS DEPLOYMENT TO JUST START.

You read that right. Just start already! There has been nothing but training and prepping for a deployment for over a year now. Just get it over with. This does NOT mean I'm ready for my husband to leave. Never am I ready to kiss him goodbye and live with just me and the toddler for many months. This deployment just needs to hurry up and start already though so we can get it over with. The sooner it begins, the sooner it ends.

The next few weeks can go slow, filled with fun, laughs, and love. But I can honestly say I'm glad this deployment is about to just start and get over with already... even though I will miss my husband like crazy!
